Wholistic Approach to Health
Naturopathic medicine is a system of primary health care that focuses on individual patient care. This unique approach blends science and traditional natural therapies to support the intelligence of the body to stimulate inherent healing processes, prevent illness and maintain optimal health. Dr. Fyffe’s approach to healing involves attention to the physical and mental/emotional well being to facilitate higher levels of function in all aspects of life. Her family practice addresses chronic conditions, common acute illnesses and individualized prevention programs for optimal health.
Nutrition is key to our health and well-being. Are you getting the vitamins and minerals in your diet the body needs for optimal health? If not, we may prescribe high quality supplements to address deficiencies. Diet is also discussed and recommendations may be made for your specific needs.
Herbs have been used for centuries to provide nutrition and promote healing. In practice we use them in the form of teas, tinctures and capsules.
Lifestyle counselling is about creating different ways of living our life by realizing unsupportive patterns of behaviour and shifting to a more positive way of being in all areas of our life.
Acupuncture and Eastern herbs are aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine that work together to move Qi or energy, blood and body fluids in the 12 meridians in the body. These 12 meridians connect glands and organs. Stagnation is considered to be the cause of illness and pain. When practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine we access knowledge that goes back thousands of years.
Homeopathy was first practiced by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician in the late 1700’s. The basis of homeopathy is “like cures like.” In homeopathy we search for a substance from plant, animal or mineral that produces in a healthy person those same symptoms an ill person experiences. This has been used widely in Europe, England, India, South America and now North America.
Hydrotherapy uses the healing power of water to boost the immune system, detox the body and increase blood flow reducing inflammation.
Muscle balancing is a form of applied kinesiology where a muscle group or specific muscle is tested with resistance for strength. If the muscle is weak, the appropriate acupressure point is located and pressure is applied allowing the muscle to return to normal strength by increasing blood flow to the area.
The Emotion Code
The Emotion Code is a way of releasing trapped emotions held in the body. Dr. Brad Nelson developed this method to release these trapped emotions that may cause pain in the body or keep us repeating old patterns of behavior. It is like a computer that has a lot of old programs that are slowing down the operation of the computer. By deleting these old programs we release energy in the body which releases pain and allows us to create and experience life in ways that were unattainable to us before the release.
